Los Angeles, Calif. – April 21 – American COP, the new law enforcement magazine from FMG Publications, took home the prestigious “Public Safety/Trade” award at the 55th Annual Maggie Awards. The award was presented by the Western Publication Association, representing magazine publishers west of the Mississippi. The Maggie selection committee recognized American COP’s outstanding publishing within the public safety sector.
“I think it’s an honor to be recognized among so many large, well-established publications,” said Dave Douglas, American COP editor. “As a magazine only in publication for 10 months, it represents how committed we are to providing a useful tool for real cops.” American COP’s quality stems from its brutally honest and no-nonsense approach to article writing.
“It truly is a magazine for cops by cops and that honesty and quality in the public safety sector did not go unnoticed in the publishing world,” continued Douglas. The four other finalist publications for the 2006 Public Safety/Trade award were FireRescue, JEMS, Security Sales & Integration, and Wildland Firefighter.
The Maggies, known as “the Oscars of the magazine industry”, received over 2000 entries representing 400 magazines. For the past 55 years, the Maggie Awards have brought together publishing executives and professionals working in all aspects of the industry in a spectacular, unique awards show. The Maggie Awards recognize the hard work, dedication and creative talents working in the publishing industry today.
FMG Publications, headquartered in San Diego, is also the publisher of the commercial magazines: American Handgunner, GUNS Magazine and the trade magazine, Shooting Industry. |
